FAQ

  • So, how does this work?
    • Currently, we offer buttonhole service by appointment at our offices in Billerica, Massachusetts.  Please use the Scheduler to make an appointment.
    • We will offer a mail-in service in the future. so keep an eye out! We're working on the logistics, and hope to go live with mail-ins in early 2024.
    • What types of garments do you work on?
      • Right now, we make keyhole and eyelet buttonholes for woven medium-to-heavy weight fabrics: suitings, coatings, bouclés, and denims. These are used for coats, jackets, pants, and skirts.
      • We do not currently make buttonholes for cotton shirts, stretchy fabrics, knits, gauzes, meshes, or fabrics containing sequins or beading.
    • Do I need to supply the thread?
      • No. We will use the best match to your fabric, unless you tell us otherwise.  We have lots of thread colors in stock and are confident that we can match your fabric color precisely.
      • If you want a contrasting color,  please let us know what color you want and we will work with you to use a thread from our stock that will meet your requirements.
      • If, however, you want to see how the buttonhole will look with your fabric, we also offer a Swatch Service, where we will make a buttonhole in a sample piece of fabric that you send us.
      • How long does it take?
        • When you make a reservation to come into our studio, we will do your buttonholes while you wait.
        • We're working on the logistics for mail-in garment service, and we'll supply more details on that when it's available.

      • What length buttonholes can you create?
        • We can create buttonholes as small as 22mm (13/16 of an inch) and as large as 30mm (1 1/4 inches). These work with buttons from 5/8 inch to 1 1/8 inch.
        • Our machine is designed for larger clothing items with heavier fabrics: coats, pants, dresses, skirts, etc.
      • Can I buy buttons from you?
        • No. We don't sell buttons, sorry. But we are happy to recommend great button sources to you.
        • Can you sew my buttons on my garment for me?
          • No, sorry.
          • Do you ship Internationally?
            • No. To be blunt, shipping garments to and from the US is prohibitively expensive, even if we use a "low cost" shipping option. Then there's insurance and duties, never mind the wait to get it through customs. So, I'm sorry, but I'm afraid not.
